ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court (SC) while referring the matter of purchase of gas cylinder at higher rates in polyclinic hospital to FIA has sought complete inquiry report on this count from director FIA Islamabad.
The court has also sought from secretary CADD details about supply of medicines, appointments and condition of machinery in Islamabad hospitals besides adjourning the hearing of the case for two weeks.
A 3-member bench of SC presided over by Justice Saqib Nisar took up the case for hearing Friday. Secretary CADD and director FIA Islamabad appeared in the court. Director FIA told the court that he had appeared in the court under the directives of DG FIA. Court inquired “if the matter of purchase of cylinder falls in their jurisdiction.
He replied that the matter falls in their jurisdiction. This matter was earlier raised in the Senate standing committee and FIA was ordered to hold inquiry on 6 points. But executive director Polyclinic did not cooperate.
Secretary CADD told the court executive director Polyclinic IftikharNaro has been removed from his office. New appointment has been made in his place.
The court inquired from secretary CADD if any order is given for holding inquiry into gas cylinder matter then tell us will it not affect gas cylinder supply or otherwise.
Justice Ejaz Afzal inquired if the audit is not conducted every year in the hospitals. Secretary CADD told the court that audit is carried out every year in hospitals. I have been appointed since the last five months.
Court observed “may they be five months or one day, you will be responsible for all matters. The court also ordered sessions court to announce decision about gas purchase case on August 22. The hearing of the case was adjourned for two weeks.
