ISLAMABAD: The Ambassador of Belarus appointed in Pakistan called on the Federal Minister for Science and Technology Rana Tanveer Hussain.
Important areas of mutual interest were discussed in a cordial environment. The Belarusian ambassador conveyed warm wishes and letter of appreciation from the Deputy Prime Minster Belarus for the Federal Minister Science and Technology and Defense Production Rana Tanveer Hussain for an excellent hospitality during fruitful visit to Islamabad earlier this month.
The expected dates for holding next Joint Commission on Science and Technology to be held in Minsk in 2017 were discussed, during the meeting. Moreover, the progress on mutual collaboration between COMSATS Institute of Information Technology (CIIT) and Belarusian counterpart also came under discussion.
The Belarus ambassador also conveyed interest in Pakistan National Accreditation Council (PNAC) and Pakistan Standards and Quality Control Authority (PSQCA) visit to Minsk for mutual collaboration on standards, quality and accreditation. The Federal Secretary, for Science and Technology Fazal Abbas Maken assured the ambassador that after discussing the arrangements of the desired meetings with the organisations concerned will be conveyed to him within next 10 working days.
Minister for Science and Technology Rana Tanveer appreciated Belarusian technology and machinery. The issue of long detour to Minsk via Doha or Abu Dhabi was also discussed during the meeting. Scope of increasing bilateral trade and over all collaboration in science and technology section were also focused.
