SRINAGAR – National Conference party president Omar Abdullah has said that Pakistan and India should constitute a truth and reconciliation commission for Jammu Kashmir on the lines of the joint investigation into the Pathankot terror attack.
“I have always said a truth and reconciliation commission should be formed by Pakistan and India to find out what happened in Jammu Kashmir during the last 25 years and who is responsible for that,” he said. “I don’t know for sure whether the joint investigation being conducted into Pathankot terror attack by India and Pakistan would prove beneficial for our country or not.
“I hope the country gets benefitted by the joint investigation and those responsible for Pathankot terror attack are given exemplary punishment.” The former state chief minister also said that the Indian investigation teams should be allowed to go to Pakistan to probe Mumbai terror attack and other such strikes in India.
On the opposition to joint investigation by opposition political parties, he said: “The BJP is now pays for its own doings in the past. When they were in the opposition they would oppose such moves.”
