SRINAGAR: Indian-held Kashmir’s (IHK) Hurriyet leaders – Shabbir Ahmad Dar, Muhammad Iqbal, Mir Muhammad Ahsan Untoo, Imtiyaz Ahmad Reshi and others – have strongly denounced the killing of Qazigund youth, Abdul Basit, by Indian forces.
The leaders in a joint statement issued in Srinagar said the Indian forces opened pellet gun firing and shelling on the peaceful protesters in which Abdul Basit was killed and dozens others were injured. They also condemned the use of force on peaceful protesters of Shopian – in which more than 100 persons were injured.
They said that before the arrival of All Party delegation from India, the whole Kashmir was converted into a big jail. They said, “We are in favour of holding talks but unless all the three principal parties participate, it will not bear fruit.”
They said that the most peaceful and democratic way to settle the Kashmir dispute was to give Kashmiri people the right to self-determination, Kashmir Media Service (KMS) reported. They said Kashmir is witnessing the worst kind of Indian state terrorism as more than 80 people have been killed and thousands injured by forces in the last two months, it further reported.
