ISLAMABAD:Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has become the first politician of Pakistan to designate five army chiefs throughout his political career.
The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader appointed General Asif Nawaz Janjua in 1991, General WaheedKakar in 1993, General Pervez Musharraf in 1999 and General Raheel Sharif in 2013.
The third-time prime minister has designated General QamarJavedBajwa as the Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) today after General Raheel Sharif formally retires on November 29.
