ISLAMABAD: A factory was burnt to ashes in the wee hours of Thursday in the Kahuta Industrial Triangle Area, along the Swan river between the Grand Trunk (GT) road and Islamabad Expressway.
The fire started at 0200 hours and it took fighters more than 12 hours to put out the fire at the godown of a pampers manufacturing factory. “The fire that erupted at 2’O clock in the morning, is not yet completely overpowered due to nature of the material on fire,” a media coordinator of Rescue-1122 told APP. He said fire was leaping out time and again from the inflamable material and the firefighting teams were busy in extinguishing it.
He said fire vehicles of Rescue-1122, Firebrigade and Capital Development Authority (CDA) participated in the operation of more than 12 hours. The official said the rescue teams reached the incident site in nine minutes after receiving the emergency call at around 0244 hours.
Fortunately he said there was no loss of life but “the shed of the six-kanal factory built of metal sheets was gutted due to heat.” According to the initial assessment, he said, the factory suffered Rs 210 million loss.
